FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
You have questions. We have answers. If you're having some difficulty with connecting to our broadcasts or just feeling a little lost, read this page and hopefully you're questions will be answered.
What players do you recommend to listen to SEGASonic Radio? The full listing of recommended players can be found as an FAQ on the 'Zone Radio Network site. To summarise, the main three which are recommended on Windows are Winamp, RealPlayer, and Windows Media Player (WMP), while jetAudio is also considered suitable. On a Mac, iTunes is probably the best choice. Other players outside of that list may work, but for the best experience and least chance of causing detriment to SSR and 'ZRN in general, please ONLY use those players on the recommended list, if at all possible. Are there any players that DON'T work well with the stream? There are some media players that take up multiple connections to the SEGASonic Radio station instead of one. In many cases, this happens to be players using the X-Audio platform, however we have seen instances of Windows Media Player taking up multiple listener slots too. Basically, if your player is found to be using more than one connection to listen to SSR, we will kick it off and temporarily ban it. To avoid this happening, try and stick to the players listed above. Can I listen to SSR elsewhere, eg. through my browser? Yes, you can listen to SEGASonic Radio through the FastFeet Media Centre - Visit FFM and click the link on the side that says "Media Center (Beta)" to launch it. If you subscribe to any Podcasts, you can listen back to past SSR LiVECAST shows as well. Does my media player support the mp3PRO format? Full support for mp3PRO playback on FM is only available, to our knowledge, with the Winamp and jetAudio players. For Winamp, you will need to download an mp3PRO plugin to get the full quality (Please note that this plugin does have the tendency to interfere with other streams based on the AAC or aacPlus audio codecs - you might have to turn off the plugin temporarily in this case). Other players will still play the stream, but at a reduced quality compared to the full mp3PRO capability - however it should still be better quality than the AM stream (RealPlayer sometimes skips on the FM stream for some reason, however). I'm requested a track from you guys, but you're not playing it...?
My problem isn't answered here - what can I do? Firstly, make sure that your question is answered in the FAQ list above! If it's answered above, the response will most likely be "read the FAQ", which you are now. We don't want such a vicious circle, eh? :-) If all else fails, email Roarey_Raccoon about your question. Don't send any email to Dreadknux with questions regarding SSR, that's what the staff here are for. Contact details are on the DJs page. Please be as specific as possible about the problem - an email that reads "The radio does not work!" is likely to be binned. |
