A/V Hijack Info. Please Read!

February 3rd, 2010

Hey all! First off, I want to give a quick thanks to all those that listened at one time or another, whether it be via SSR or via podcast. It’s because of you that A/V Hijack was a success, even before it was named such.

Quite frankly, it seems like (while I write this out) I was asking Roarz for a chance and he game me an audition, which grew into something. There are a lot of naysayers who say you can’t get something out of nothing, but I proved them wrong. After all, when I did my first episode, I was in my front yard, squinting at my laptop screen with the Texas sun over me exactly one week after the Great TSS Server Failure of 2009. But I digress, where was I?

Oh yes, the important info. Well if you’re arsed, read on. Read the rest of this entry »

The Return of SpeedKnux Pie

January 27th, 2010

Hey, this is SpeedKnux. He likes pie.
If you like pie, or are even avidly interested in SpeedKnux or his delicious pie, then be sure to tune your internet radio dial into the best source for SpeedKnux and Pie related radio shenanigans: SEGASonic: Radio.

When can I have pie?
Never, it’s all mine. But you can listen to the top-notch SpeedKnux Pie Audio Program every Thursday between the hours of 7:00pm-8:00/8:30pm. The Season will commence the Thursday after next, or for those of you who like actual dates, 4th February 2010.

What is in the pie?
Whatever you want to be in the pie. I, SpeedKnux, will be on the airwaves at the time specified playing music from video games, and my music library, whilst also talking about random things, usually in a nonsensical manner. Simply log in to the #sonicstadium chat during a show, or email me at SpeedKnux@sonicstadium.org with a topic, a question, a song request, a shout-out, or whatever really.
I will usually play music from a select few video games each show, but requests can be from any game really, as long as I have it, and I have most Sonic soundtracks at least. Because I am hardcore. I will usually cover Sonic News as a default, because it is SSR after all.

What if I miss my chance at having some pie?
Simply head over the media.sonicstadium SKP directory for a full back list of old showgrams.

TL;DR version:
SpeedKnux Pie is on every Thursday starting Feb 4th. I play music and talk crap from around 7pm-8:30pm. Tune in and check it out ;)

~SpeedKnux

Twitter – Want SSR updates on the fly?

December 8th, 2009

SSR is trialling the fancy shmancy service that likes to call themselves “Twitter”. We’ll be trialling it over the next few weeks and if it all works well, expect to hear about when your favourite shows are on, on a regular basis.

Do it. You know you want to. :)

Project 24 Wrap-Up!

November 23rd, 2009

Whoa. Just Whoa.

For starting off as a mere suggestion on one of the SEGASonicRadio shows, Project 24 didnt do too bad for itself. For those that missed out, November 15th saw the longest running set of livecasts this community has ever seen. Initially featuring only 2-3 DJ’s, the project blew up to a total of 18 DJ’s spanning a total of 25 (yeah we started early :D ) hours. Featuring DJ’s both current and retired, there was someone on hand each hour strutting their stuff.

Amazingly the interest in the project was HUGE and with support in the chatroom at breaking point, the day went exceptionally smooth.

A massive “thankyou” goes out to everyone that helped the day run as smoothly as it did. The DJ’s: DJDan, HyperSonic, Urtheart, Vger, Iceman, SpeedKnux, RichoKidd, Roarey Raccoon, DreadKnux, Roareye Black, AAUK, EchoHawk & JayZeach. Thanks also to the tech support of bmn and a very special mention goes to T-bird for all his help in promoting, planning and generally being a kick ass bloke.

Lastly, a huge shout-out goes to each and everyone of YOU. Yes, without the humble listener, a radio station is nothing so give yourselves a massive slap on the back for making the event so damn awesome.

But what, I hear you asking, happens to SSR now? Does it go back into hiding and not come out for another 12 months?

HELL NO.

SSR is back. Over the next couple of weeks, we’ll be kick starting SSR back into the glory days of yester-year. Not only will the site itself be changed around to make things easier for you, the listeners, but on a more exciting note, we will be seeing a possible 3 new shows. On top of this, we will be looking for new talent, so keep your eyes and ears peeled.

Be prepared. SSR is coming.

UPDATE: The FAQ and SHOWS tabs have been updated :) Enjoy!

Project 24 – 15th November 2009.

November 8th, 2009

pro24sm

With only 10 days to go until Project 24 kicks in, it’s about time we showed off just some of the reasons you should tune in!

Project 24 is an all-day radio livecast on SEGASonic:Radio, the Sonic Stadium’s much-loved radio channel with 24/7 music and shows hosted by a swarm of SSR DJs, taking place from 0:00GMT on Sunday the 15th of November and continuing until Midnight the next day! Spearheading the organisation of the project is resident SS:R DJ and Sonic Remix Expert BlitzChris, who has painstakingly promoted the event and even ressurrected some DJs from the bygone days of the SS:R airwaves such as Hawkz and Iceman to brush off the dust on the headset and to take to their shows once more! Also joining the ranks during the day are TSS Staff writer and fangirl heart-throb Slingerland,  Scottish random-rambler JayZeach, a delicious slice of Speedknux Pie,  the husband-wife antics of AAUK and EchoHawk on Radio Redux and the all-too hillarious flagship show The Sonic Hour with our hosts Dreadknux and Roareye…just to mention a few! Even I will be cracking out a collection of my favourite face-melters and metal monsters for a T-TIME! special!

prizes

Not only do you have a whole day of back-to-back tunes, requests, programming and chat on the Sonic Stadium IRC,  there will be a huge hoard of prizes to be won during the day including T-Shirts, Sonic Unleashed Beachballs, SEGA Superstars Tennis branded controllers and Smash Brothers Prima Guides. Because this simply is not enough, we’ve even got a signed copy of Jun Senoue’s new album “The Works” to giveaway, yes, GIVE, to one of you lucky hedgehogs or hedgehogettes, complete with Sonic Adventure 2 stickers and an official Jun Senoue guitar pick, used by the man himself! How do you win this you ask? Well…we’ll have more details of that next week! All I can say is, keep Sunday the 15th of November free in your diary! (Props to Roarz for the awesome artwork!).

Turbo Drive Live Now Only Live No More Downloaded Shows Being Uploaded

November 8th, 2009

Don’t worry TDL has not been canned just the downloads of past episodes have now stopped. Which just means that you can only listen to the show live every Friday night at 8 PM GMT. This is due to two main reasons 1) I don’t want to eat up all of TSS media bandwidth with all the shows I have done and 2) I keep on forgetting to put up the resent one as soon as I finish the show I have just done and they just pile up and up and up on my Hard Drive and gather dust.

So if you want your TDL fix then you have to get it live every Friday night. So till then take care of yourselves and don’t forget to tune in.

Thats right! From Emerald Hill, all the way through to Death

Egg, join us for an afternoon/night/morning of the best remixes from a game that helped define our much loved mascot. Join us on the chatroom and reminisce. Let nostalgia sweep over you, like it does us each and every week.

TRZ begins July 21st!

July 14th, 2009

That’s right, we have a date set for the first episode of The Raccoon Zone Season 4. TRZ will be playing at 9pm BST on Tuesday July 21st, right here on SSR. So be sure to tune in! Oh and this evening (Tuesday 14th July) at 9pm BST there will be a short practice run of TRZ so have a listen to that too.

The Raccoon Zone Returning to SSR!

June 28th, 2009

Yes indeed folks, I’ll be bringing back my old show, The Raccoon Zone during the summer. There’s not a fixed date yet but it will be playing on Tuesdays at 9pm BST.  TRZ was one of the highest rated shows on SSR a few years ago, so you wont be disappointed when it finally returns on the air. In other news, we’re currently working on making our shows the best they can be so you have solid, reliable content from us. If you have any questions or suggestions please email me at Roarey[at]gmail.com and I’ll be very happy to read your messages.

We’ll also be doing a bit of advertising in the coming months to help spread the word about the return of this awesome internet radio station, once we’ve made sure our content is worth advertising (that’d help, don’t you think? =D). So expect shows to have some funky graphics in the near future. As always, enjoy listening to SSR and I’ll see you around!

P.S. I’m aware that the 24/7 stream has been a bit weird lately, playing the same tracks over and over again, and we’re working to fix that asap so please bear with us.

The Sonic Hour Returns! Sunday 12th July 2009!

June 27th, 2009

rss-coverSEGASonic Radio will see the return of its flagship LiVECAST very soon! The Sonic Hour has been a weekly comedy podcast that covers the week’s events in Sonic the Hedgehog, with the presenters (Dreadknux and Roareye Black) generally getting off topic and talking about random things in the process.

The plan was to bring back TSH in time for Sonic the Hedgehog’s 18th birthday (which, given the show regularly broadcasts on a Sunday evening, would have made that tomorrow night) but there’s another birthday sitting in the way of proceedings. Svend’s very own one!

So while Dread celebrates his 24th birthday, you can relive classic episodes of The Sonic Hour with the brand new podcast feed! Click here to find the feed, or you can find the listing on iTunes (due to a technical hitch we have had to change the iTunes feed URL, so you may still be getting a 404 error if you subscribe that way. Should be fixed in a while).

TSH has been going for as long as SEGASonic Radio’s been doing live broadcasts, so we’re periodically adding episodes over the next week. You can already catch the entirety of Series 1 and 3, with Series 4 being populated and the elusive, rare Series 2 coming very soon.

Series 5 will begin on SEGASonic Radio, on Sunday 12th July 2009 at 6pm BST (11am US Pacific time). Make sure you keep the date booked for listening to our live feed, and visit our live IRC chatroom at irc.surrealchat.net to chat while we relaunch the LiVECAST! See you then!

Blitz & Pieces

June 22nd, 2009

SEASON 2 STARTS SUNDAY 28th!

blitzlogo

OHH YEAHH!

OH YEAH, Blitz & Pieces is back baby, 1pm Sundays GMT. The all Australian show, featuring the newest and greatest (and some of the not so great) sonic remixes. With a library of over 400 remixes and expanding, tune in for fresh tunes each week.

The show is hosted by myself, BlitzChris (aka noslien90) and my co-host Spondy (from the IRC) live from Perth, Australia and relies on the input of the community to flourish. Our weekly competition, the “Dingles Jingle of the Week” (named after former co-host Dingle) combines 10 well known sonic tracks into a mixtape of sexualness, which we ask you to name. Do so and you win. Possibly prizes. Possibly an awesome Hi-5 the next time I meet you.

Either way, its great to be back, and we hope you enjoy remixes as much as us.

Turbo Drive Live

June 8th, 2009

Turbo Drive Live

Yo guys and girls its Turbo here talking about my non stop LiVECAST show Turbo Drive Live.   In the show I give you people the latest news happing from TSS in Sonic News Rewind, also giving my views on what I have played/watched or whatever has caught my eye from the previous week, plus I play your Sonic song requests live on the show for all to enjoy (or suffer lol).  Note: only one request per listener and you request on the night either in the #sonicstadium IRC chatroom or to my E-mail turbo@sonicstadium.org.

So when is the show on? You can catch it live on Friday every week at 8 PM UK Time (check local timezone to find out when it’s on where you are)

24/7 Live Stream Active Again

June 8th, 2009

Right, we’re slowly getting back up to spec – B’man’s helped re-activate the live 24/7 streamer that plays whenever a LiVECAST isn’t taking place, so now you can click ‘LISTEN’ up there and enjoy the best Sonic the Hedgehog music! Stay tuned for more developments on this website – we’re looking into placing a ‘Now Playing’ strip on here to show you exactly what track is on before you jump in.

Most of the DJs have login details now, so they will be filling in details on their respective LiVECAST shows in the very near future – these pages will be found under the ‘SHOWS’ section and will contain information on the content each show features, along with podcast links and download sources to check out the latest episodes. This home page will now be much more populated too, as DJs use this section to inform you of changes to the regular schedule and tell you about new special events that we’ll be running on the radio station.

Exciting times indeed – and it’s only going to be get better. Stay tuned!

SEGASonic Radio: Back From The Grave

May 19th, 2009

Well, if you’ve been keeping up with recent news regarding The Sonic Stadium’s host, you’ll already know that back in March there was a serious server catastrophe that left the Network with… not an awful lot to rebuild with, honestly. SEGASonic Radio had just been relaunched with a new look, and it was getting pretty populated with Schedules and Show pages etc, but with the server hiccup we lost that too.

So we’re starting from scratch, again, pretty much, sort of. :) SSR’s had a bit of a re-makeover (primarily because the backup we had of the old-new site was unfinished – that and we felt a lot of things needed tweaking somewhat), and we’ll be working on getting those pages back online very soon. Excuse the dust while we work – we’d rather work on a site that’s online rather than sit this thing forever in stasis until everything’s back to normal again.

We’re also toying with a new way of bringing you LiVECAST podcasting – the very first episodes of The Sonic Hour are our testing ground, and so far it’s going pretty well! You should be seeing your fellow SSR DJs add their own podcasts with ease very soon (once we’ve all gathered round the big table and run through how it works for them), so for now enjoy that the radio side of the TSS Network has a face once again. Massive thanks for sticking around while we sort this problem out.
